The 2026 Life Time Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival, with its famous 40-mile endurance race and 16-mile “Short & Fat” race, will take place on Sat. Sept. 19, 2026.
The historic 40-mile race will start as it always does in Hayward, Wisc., before launching into the deep Wisconsin woods before ending just outside of Cable, Wisc.
Likewise, the Short & Fat will begin at the finish line for both races, just past Hayward’s air strip and the Derksen Family Great Hall, home of the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation. Both races start at 10 a.m. Cost for entry ranges from $95-$120.
The pro-level race, the Life Time Grand Prix Pro Race, will begin in Hayward at 12:30 p.m. for the women and 1 p.m. for the men.
